I came across W.B. Yeats' Cradle Song while browsing in The Trinity College Bookstore in Dublin. It moved me and I wanted to hang the words in my son's bedroom. As I spent some more time with the words upon returning home, I decided to make the poem my own to wholly represent my feelings as a mother. I wanted the words to fill his thoughts as he fell asleep so I wrote a melody to pair with it.
The line, 'I sigh to kiss you for I must own that I shall miss you when you have grown' stood out to me as I have wished for some way to keep my children mini for longer.
"I love these little people; and it is not a slight thing, when they who are so fresh from God, love us."
